This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.
ChatGPT You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Chats also now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.
In order to redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

Google is still way better at search than chatgpt search in every aspect. perplexity is way better than chatgpt search, it can compete with google

While the extension is visually appealing and offers an array of features, its practical utility falls short. I often find myself resorting to Google for links, images, and user opinions, as the extension does not consistently deliver the comprehensive answers I require. In many cases, a straightforward Google search is more efficient, suggesting that the tool may be overextended in its attempt to cover too many functions at once
While the extension is nice, it's not exactly practical. I find myself Googling links, images, and people's opinions, but it's not really giving me the answers I need. There are just some things that are better off being searched directly on Google. It feels like a tool that’s trying to do too much when a simple search would get the job done faster.

Searching the internet using ChatGPT is just stupid... eg if i want to search for a specific, website then it takes too long to open ChatGPT. It's also completely stupid that each search created a new "chat" which spams my history. Google is usually fine for general search - if i want to ask ChatGPT, ill open up the site.
Utterly goated. use !g to use google, but why would you? if only i could short perplexity
just really stupid bc i cant find the way to turn it off except uninstalling it, and so i cant search for a specific website when idk the url, and some websites are hard to find and impossible with chatgpt.
