Excellent, should really be the default option on gmail. I jumped on Inbox in the early days and miss it a lot now - just for the task based humanisation of email management - this is the best it's going to get. Inbox is dead, long live simplify!
it didn't worked properly to me, the compose button "simply" disappeared...
This is a big improvement! The only drawback for me: I have installed Trello as add-on, and it won't show up with the default add-ons when clicking the three-bullet-button. But there's an alternative extension called "Gmail-to-Trello", that adds a button to the top toolbar, and it even has more features than the official Trello add-on.
Michael you're a legend! Thanks so much for putting in the effort to release this extension, as a person who is in Gmail all day, it's everything I have been wishing Google would change. Awesome! Couple of tiny bits of feedback if it helps... - Link to other apps (Docs, Sheets, etc). As I have gmail open all the time, it's a jumping off point to other Google apps so I have noticed I'm missing the "apps" menu that lives up in the top-right of the screen. - Profile photo & compose icon ("+") sometimes don't appear. Usually comes back with a refresh though so probably just an extension loading issue. - A dark theme would be awesome too. Thanks again.
Everything seems good, but pls provide an Extension setting to get rid of that humongous and unnecessary "+, ..." floating action button on the bottom-right. It completely overlaps the discard and "..." menu when you're composing a reply. Adding a Compose button on the top row of action icons (e.g. left of the Archive icon) doesn't take *ANY* screen room away and is 'visually' even cleaner.
Why do the emails not disappear when I archive them?
Amazing!!! I was heartbroken after Inbox was killed, and this makes up for so much of it! :) The only thing missing for me - Plug ins, such as Asana, Evernote, etc. - don't show up in the three dot list with Tasks, Calendar and Keep. Would be awesome to have access to them as well.
You are my hero. Thank you.
I do appreciate the effort and simpler interface, but to me, it's not enough. I prefer what Darwin Mail has done, making it feel like the Inbox that I loved and miss. https://www.darwinmail.app/
This does help making Gmail clearer. I'm very glad for the whitespace, switching back from Inbox to Gmail felt like bad flashback in this area, especially on my 27" imac. One thing that I'd probably like even more is keeping alive the "done, not archived" concept. I think it's very important that we don't lose this possible solution to today's cluttered email inboxes.
