It will help you optimize your video viewing by allowing you to make quick playback speed adjustments, as well as rewind the video to hear the last few second one more time. We don't read at a constant speed, and we talk much slower than we read - there is no reason why we have to listen at a constant speed and at a (very) slow rate.
Once the extension is installed simply navigate to any page that offers HTML5 video, and you'll see a speed indicator in top left corner of the video player. Hover over the indicator to reveal the controls to accelerate, slowdown, or rewind the video (10 seconds + lowers playback speed). Or, even better, use your keyboard:
- S - decrease playback speed.
- D - increase playback speed.
- R - reset playback speed.

perfect, hope the people at youtube dont realize that you can use the fast forward button to skip through ads..
I've been using this for months. I stumbled upon how to make it brighter and was delighted. Moved to a new computer and can't find that again. I know it was a slider bar but can't find settings for that in the settings. I just now realized one can move the control panel as well. I was always annoyed that some YouTube thing was in the way for the first several seconds but now that I know I can move it, I'm pleased. It's just to dim for me, the default setting, and I can't find my way back to adjusting that. Would be nice if there was a gear settings icon along with the control icons, to change settings like that.

Fantastic! How did I live without this?
i don't see a playback display on the page in question but d and s can speed up and slow down the video in places where there are no controls in the interface, which is a lifesaver for me.
This is an absolutely amazing extension. It saves me so much time everyday, if I'm not interested in an ad, I can put it on 16x speed. This solves the problem of missing out on ads you actually want to see by using adblockers. Best part is that the extension is open-source and I don't have to worry about one more company stealing my data. I am very thankful to the creators of this extension for making my life so much better.
