It will help you optimize your video viewing by allowing you to make quick playback speed adjustments, as well as rewind the video to hear the last few second one more time. We don't read at a constant speed, and we talk much slower than we read - there is no reason why we have to listen at a constant speed and at a (very) slow rate.
Once the extension is installed simply navigate to any page that offers HTML5 video, and you'll see a speed indicator in top left corner of the video player. Hover over the indicator to reveal the controls to accelerate, slowdown, or rewind the video (10 seconds + lowers playback speed). Or, even better, use your keyboard:
- S - decrease playback speed.
- D - increase playback speed.
- R - reset playback speed.

Have been using this for a long time and love it! Thanks. I see that the position of the speed indicator recently changed so that it's not behind the promotion banner anymore (probably based on the review below). A welcome change. I do wish it would remember the last position you placed it, along with allowing for horizontal or vertical controls as selectable options, but I can live with the way it is.
Works like a charm!
I tried a few similar extensions before settling on this one. It's great. I love being able to quickly raise/lower speed with a keyboard shortcut. A minor annoyance is that the speed indicator is positioned the same place YT puts the "Includes paid promotion" banner. It would be great if all the extensions positioned it elsewhere (bottom left corner?) or moved it down 100px.

All it does is speed up audio and not the video content
Excelente, me sirve mucho para no perder el tiempo en videos con introducciones sin contenido o editados para generar más visibilidad en redes sociales pero sin ningún valor real. Ha dejado de funcionar tan bien en algunos reels de facebook, pero para la gran mayoría de sitios webs con videos es una gran ayuda.

This is a LIFE SAVER!!! I'm taking several self-pace coding classes. The coding videos and tutorials were all done with in-class students, and the videos have no inherit way of speeding them up like with YouTube playback rate. This extension works and it is a huge time saver when giving you the option to listen at 2x the speed. Slowing things down has been helpful in some situations with the classes.
