Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!

Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.

Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///

Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.

Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

Something seems to have changed recently. When you open a new tab, in the address bar you get "chrome://apps". This is normally highlighted so you can type over it straight away. Now it isn't so you have to delete the text before typing an address or a search.

Instead of having "about:blank" in address bar, it should just literally be BLANK. Because otherwise I have to click and delete the "blank" text. Pointless!! It used to not do that, so I don't know if something with the extension changed, or if it was with Chrome. I used to be able to click in the address bar and highlight the entire text, but not anymore. I can update my rating if needed / if this gets fixed!

I can no longer immediately type and go to the pages I want to immediately. I now have to highlight the entire URL bar.

As reported by others, the text in the address bar is no longer highlighted - very annoying. I used the extension very successfully to redirect to about:blank. For now, I've switched to the Empty New Tab Page extension https://goo.gl/5ZAqzL

Seems like during a recent update, the following behaviour changed. Previously when a new tab opened, the "about:blank" text was highlight by default, ready to be overtyped. Now, the cursor is placed before "about"... so the previous action of "new tab -> type address" now no longer works as a streamlined action. Need to manually SELECT TEXT to overtype. Can this please be amended/reverted in a future update??? Thanks

This gave me all the flexibility to do exactly what I wanted without granting excessive permissions

Love this extension. However, like many others are saying in recent reviews, the "always update" option recently broke, and the cursor appears at the beginning of the url rather than highlighting the url. Please fix and I will update my review to 5 stars. Edit: after checking the github page, it seems to be a Chrome bug.

It does work and nothing serious.

For some reason, the "always update" option which would highlight the address bar and allow you to start typing in the new tab right away is not working and instead just places the cursor at the beginning of the address bar making it extremely annoying to work with. Please fix immediately.
