Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!
Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.
Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///
Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.
Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

Rid of nasty thumbnails.
Used to work perfectly but hasn't been updated in 3 years. Now interferes with browser saved passwords. Had to disable. Developer unresponsive to email. I regret having sent a donation for "continued development". Chromium Version 63.0.3239.84 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit).
It will not allow you to change default!! Uninstalling when I can figure out how. (*^^* !!
This extension works exactly as expected on a PC. I'm able to open a new tab to the URL of my choosing without any effort. When browsing the internet at night, I use an extension (Dark Reader) which darkens website backgrounds. I've always been irked by the New Tab's default page (with extensions such as Dark Reader), which doesn't allow extensions to run effectively. NTB now saves my eyes and I couldn't be more thankful! PS: Have NOT tested this on a Mac

I don't understand how Google force us to use an extension for doing that.
I can finally hide the most frequently visited sites when I open a new tab. I have never once clicked on one, and I don't really like others spying on what my favorite sites are when I open a new tab with someone watching.
