PDF.js is a Portable Document Format (PDF) viewer that is built with HTML5.
PDF.js is community-driven and supported by Mozilla. Our goal is to create a general-purpose, web standards-based platform for parsing and rendering PDFs.
This extension offers PDF.js as the default PDF viewer in Chrome. This is the official Chrome extension of the PDF.js project. Be careful of unrelated copycats.
If you want to use this viewer to view local files, visit chrome://extensions/?id=oemmndcbldboiebfnladdacbdfmadadm and put a check before "Allow access to file URLs".

Unlike the built in PDF plugin, this can still search PDFs in a separate frame. It cannot view PDFs over 512MB, but the developer was very responsive to my query about it and has lodged a ticket with Google about the limitation. Very impressed to have such a responsive developer!
Now, I don't need any external pdf reader. It's amazing and have all necessary feature of a PDF reader.
After Google disabled NPAPI plugins completely, I couldn't view pdfs in the browser anymore which was a really nice feature. With this extension, I can do that again no problem! Painless, thank you!
