It will help you optimize your video viewing by allowing you to make quick playback speed adjustments, as well as rewind the video to hear the last few second one more time. We don't read at a constant speed, and we talk much slower than we read - there is no reason why we have to listen at a constant speed and at a (very) slow rate.
Once the extension is installed simply navigate to any page that offers HTML5 video, and you'll see a speed indicator in top left corner of the video player. Hover over the indicator to reveal the controls to accelerate, slowdown, or rewind the video (10 seconds + lowers playback speed). Or, even better, use your keyboard:
- S - decrease playback speed.
- D - increase playback speed.
- R - reset playback speed.

Love this (mostly). I only ever watch video at 1.3-1.5 speed any more. My only complaint is that it occasionally resets to 1x speed and I have to adjust it again.
It's a brilliant, necessary tool that I wish I found earlier. I've been watching all videos at 1.5-2.0x speed wherever possible which is mainly youtube and videos I downloaded. Now I can extend it to nearly every other video on the net. Thanks a bunch for this!
Does what it says and does it well. I love being able to zip through videos between 2 and 4 times as fast just by pressing S or D. Having a moment-by-moment granularity changes the viewing experience in ways that I can no longer live without. Thank you.
Nice but would be nicer if you added a toggle play/pause shortcut. Would also be nice if you could change the default playback speed (rather than just having a preferred speed that you need to select every time you change it). For example, I like to play songs and movie trailers at a playback speed of 1:00 but most other times, I prefer to speed up the playback. Would be nice if I had an option to default to the faster speed every time and then simply reset the speed every time I need to. I know there is a preferred speed option but you have to choose this any time you change it. Too often I open lots of Youtube videos in quick succession only to discover I need to speed up each one separately because the last time I watched a video at the normal speed I forgot to speed up playback after watching. I have also noticed that this extension interferes with other extensions that can set the default playback speed. When you deselect the option to remember playback speed, it always forces it to 1:00, preventing other extensions that can change it from doing so.
