Product summary

Ah, Sprint Reader! A digital marvel that promises to turn us all into literary Usain Bolts, dashing through prose at breakneck speed. This marvelous extension, free as the air we breathe (though considerably less essential), attaches itself to your browser like a benevolent parasite. With a flick of the wrist and a right-click as casual as a royal wave, it transforms your chosen text into a high-speed literary Grand Prix.

Gone are the days of laboriously dragging your eyes across the page like a sloth on tranquilizers. No, no! Sprint Reader catapults words at your eyeballs with the relentless efficiency of a tennis ball machine gone berserk. It's RSVP - Rapid Serial Visual Presentation. Not to be confused with the rather more civilized "Répondez s'il vous plaît", though both may leave you equally breathless.

The creators, bless their optimistic hearts, assure us that this method will break us free from the shackles of "sub-vocalization" - that quaint habit of actually hearing the words in our heads as we read. How terribly 20th century! Why bother with the music of language when you can have a silent disco in your cranium?

But wait, there's more! This digital wonder comes with a veritable smorgasbord of features. Multiple color schemes! Optimal letter highlighting! Automatic language detection! It's like having a polyglot chameleon as your personal reading assistant. And for those of us who find the idea of reading one word at a time a tad pedestrian, fear not - you can adjust the "chunk size". Because nothing says "I'm a serious intellectual" like absorbing "War and Peace" three words at a time.

The creators, in their infinite wisdom, have even provided for "grammar delays". Commas, periods, and paragraphs can now be savored for a microsecond longer. It's the literary equivalent of a speed bump - just enough to remind you that punctuation exists before hurtling onward.

And should you find yourself enamored with this breakneck bibliophilia, you can profess your love on Facebook. Nothing says "I have a rich inner life" quite like publicly declaring your affection for a speed reading app.

Overall I've been enjoying it. I read a lot of academic articles and there are a few things that could be dealt with better: - em dashes, should be a break here - citations - for example "Smith 2007, p. 9" is shown in four chunks which disrupts the flow - acronyms which include periods (U.S., e.g., and so on, especially when like I've done here there's a comma thrown in as well) - section headings which don't have punctuation after - footnote callout numbers. It would be fantastic if they could be ignored. - semi-colons and colons (as far as I can tell) don't come with pauses as it seems they should - ellipses are sometimes spelled out one period at a time - quotations which end with punctuation inside the quotation should include the quotation mark with the final word - "Right?" should show as one word. While these would improve readability even more, they are fairly minor issues and in general I've been finding it really useful and helpful.

A great RSVP reader that keeps getting better! The best of any I have found. I noticed the breaking up of words (i.e. combining "R.S.V.P" but breaking up "one-hundred-and-fourty") has gotten much better, thanks! I think this can be improved even more. Learning to use the shortcuts helps. One small thing: lately there is a little bug where the text initially appears in the top left hand corner, but this fixes itself if I resize the window.

I love this I have wanted to read faster since I was little and this is helping a lot. Getting stats on my progress is great and motivating to see how far I have come. My only problem is that the highlighted letter is not longer working for some reason. I'm re-installing to see if that will work

I've been trying several spritz inspired extensions and yours is one of the most complete one, the default font is great but the fact that you can select from different fonts is amazing. Been reading epubs (converted to html w/calibre). no crashes, only success.

Excellent Extension. I still feel a bit of reading comprehension is lost but for a poor reader such as myself it's still extremely helpful.

Awesome app. The fact that it only rsvp reads a section at a time can actually be a help in determining where you are in an overall article. One problem is that the keyboard shortcut does not appear to always work but I'm not sure what could be interfering with it.

It was a pain to read any document with numbers as it would separate the number as two items. (ie. "this costed $24.1 billion" would show as "this - costed - $24 - .1 - billion")

Den här appen är grym! Glöm Spritz och annat hype. Du kan enkelt konvertera PDF filer och annat till HTML gratis online för att sedan använda den här pluginen. Rekommenderas starkt!

So helpful for working through large chunks of content and eliminates distraction of ads and hyperlinks.

Интересное расширение, которое действительно ускоряет чтение. Простое в настройке и использовании. Сразу сменил шрифт - для русского текста первоначальный не очень удобен. Осталось проверить, насколько долго остаются в памяти тексты прочитанные таким способом.
