Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!
Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.
Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///
Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.
Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

These new permissions are weird. Please explain why they are needed or remove them. Untill then I will not use the extention. ..Ok, they have been explaned, thanks.
Funktioniert eigentlich super aber warum braucht die Erweiterung jetzt Rechte, die garnichts mit der Funktion zu tun haben? Apps, Erweiterungen und Designs will es nun verwalten, Lesezeichen lesen und ÄNDERN genauso wie den Browserverlauf. Wird gnadenlos deinstalliert!
I have been using this tab for a while; it is very useful for loading a page whenever you start-up Chrome, and for when you open a new tab. However, the new permissions for this extension make me wary. I can not understand why it would require permission to MODIFY browsing history, bookmarks, as well as access your bookmarks, browsing history, and other extensions/applications. Until the permissions change, or a feasible explanation as to why it would need this level of access, I won't use this extension any more.
Why on Earth do you now need to change the permissions to such crazy stuff?
Very helpful, makes it easier to use Chrome.
Thank you for correcting Google's horrible automatic "update".
Please add the ability to automatically select the new tab's url so I can instantly start typing, and I'll add another star to the review.
really glad there is a workaround now that Google has nixed the developer flag! my only request is the URL be highlighted as i now realize a habit I've formed is sometimes typing a URL into a new tab (thus it would type over chrome://apps in my case) - this enhancement would make this 5 stars!
now I can directly load my favourite website through a new tab page!
This saved me from switching browsers in disgust/frustration. Thank you! Does EXACTLY what Chrome should do out of the box - give us an option.
