Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!

Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.

Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///

Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.

Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

To be able to start typing in the address bar right away after opening a new tab: Check the box marked 'Always update tab, not redirect. (Enable for cursor in the address bar)" When installing. OR, In chrome, under "window", click "Extensions", find New Tab Redirect. click "options," then check the box marked "Always update tab, not redirect. (Enable for cursor in the address bar)"

Not needed, You can just go into the Chrome settings and change the new tab from there. Why do we even need this? Also, the Chrome settings works properly and well for all OS's and gives you more customization in the tabs aspect. Eh,

When redirecting new tab on google.com, you can normally use the original search box again and avoid this irritating jump to the url/omnibar whenever you want to type inside the search box. However, if i create different chrome users and install this extension in each of them with identical settings, it will work that way on some chrome users, and won't on some others. In those where it does not work, there is just no impact on the original search box and no difference with the standard chrome behaviour that sends your cursor into the url/omnibar each time you type in the original search box. Is there a reason to this unconsistent behavior?

Thank you very much Jim Schubert!
