Zotero is a free, easy-to-use, open-source tool to help you collect, organize, annotate, cite, and share research.
The Zotero Connector automatically senses content as you browse the web and allows you to save items to Zotero with a single click. If a PDF is available, the Connector can save it to your library to read later, and it can even save snapshots of webpages in case they change or disappear. Whether you're searching for a preprint on arXiv.org, a journal article from JSTOR, a news story from the New York Times, or a book from your university library catalog, Zotero has you covered with support for thousands of sites.
Additionally, if you use a web-based proxy to access resources your institution subscribes to, the Zotero Connector can automatically redirect you through the proxy when you follow links to those sites from elsewhere on the web, making sure that you always have access to PDFs and other gated content.
While the Connector can save most pages directly to your zotero.org account, for the full Zotero experience be sure to install the Zotero desktop app, which allows you to organize your references efficiently, insert citations automatically into Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs, and much more. You can download Zotero for free from https://www.zotero.org/download

The zotero icon is not appearing on my microsoft word tabs. Any idea why?
It's black magic how good this is at getting both metadata and the full PDF of an article just from the information listing page of an online journal.

Hi Zotero Team， Zotero connector sometimes is unable to run successfully in Chrome on my mac. sometimes the extension reminds my desktop application is not running while i am sure my application is running correctly. or sometimes the extension directly breaks down, and reminds me that something wrong in Chrome extension in log document. these make me crazy, i nearly find the solutions all day, but it is useless.

Hi, I have the Zotero Connector installed on my chrome. Hence, there is also a "Zotero" tab in my Google-Doc. But the Tab in Google-Doc doesn't function. When I click on "add citation", practically nothing happens. My normal zotero account on zotero-windows-software works fine. Please help with the Google-Doc thing. Thanks
I wanted an easy reference software that also had integration with Word, was free and Had an offline app. Zotero was the result of many searches. One of the benefits(I thought) was the chrome extension to save webpages, even just the snapshots and urls would be extremely useful to me. Alas the button only worked on library reference websites, and big name websites. I often have obscure and hard to find sources in my field of study, and the ability to save those webpages was non existant with Zotero. I followed all 14 steps in their "fix the button" page and still had no luck. I support the open software movement, but this needs more work to stand up to the kind of academic rigor that I would put it through. Ill try again in a few years.
