Note: You must be logged in to chatgpt.com to use ChatGPT search.

This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.

ChatGPT You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Chats also now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.

In order to redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

Deeply inefficient when trying to go to a specific site, not a good general search engine replacement. I use the ChatGPT app every day but as a general search engine used to navigate to known and semi-known content it's severely inefficient, resulting in longer wait times and having to take extra steps to get to specific links. Having full on conversations just to go to a specific URL is mind-numbingly slow. Proves that not everything is faster in conversational language.

@tony... mine works? I understand your concern regarding the absence of both "Search ChatGPT for..." and "Search Google for..." options in the right-click context menu. This limitation can hinder workflow efficiency, especially when alternating between ChatGPT and traditional search engines. Potential Solutions: Utilize Browser Extensions: ChatGPT Context Menu: This Chrome extension adds an "Ask ChatGPT" option to the right-click menu, allowing you to send selected text to ChatGPT. However, it doesn't integrate a "Search Google for..." option. CHROME WEB STORE RightClickGPT: This extension enables quick sending of selected text to ChatGPT via the context menu. It focuses on ChatGPT integration and doesn't include a Google search option. GITHUB Custom Context Menu Configuration: Some browsers allow customization of the context menu through extensions or settings. For instance, Firefox users can use the "Menu Wizard" add-on to modify context menu entries. This approach requires manual setup and may not be straightforward. Develop a Custom Extension: If existing solutions don't meet your needs, developing a custom browser extension could provide the desired functionality. This would involve programming knowledge and adherence to browser extension development guidelines. Recommendation: While current extensions like ChatGPT Context Menu and RightClickGPT offer integration with ChatGPT, they don't simultaneously provide a "Search Google for..." option. Exploring browser-specific customization options or developing a custom extension might be necessary to achieve both functionalities in the context menu.

really good, but the searches pile up in the history. better make an option on the extension not to save the searches, or save them if decides (click on a button or smthn)

L'estensione funziona in maniera impeccabile.

No doubt, better than Google. But guys, are you serious to add "every single" search to the side bar in the history of ChatGPT WebUI? An option for not storing the search chat is a must! I cannot clean my chatgpt history each time I made a search (try not to laugh now :-)))

I think it's not legal to completely remove the google search from new tabs. It's nice to have chatgpt available in omnibox, but as a user I want to customize where do i want to search. Product itself is awesome, this particular extension is not.

Add a feature that enables us to toggle it on and off cause I don't want to always open a chat window with every search. Right now i have to go and disable it or switch to another profile or window if I don't want to use the search gpt and just want good old google search results

Installed, tested and immediately uninstalled for one reason: the extension took over the address bar search and *disabled* the option to select any other engine. I wanted SearchGPT to be an option, not to take over all of my search. I immediately uninstalled the extension. I will probably revisit when they change the approach.
