This eye-care extension enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colours to make web pages high contrast and easier to read.
Adjust brightness, contrast, the sepia filter, font preferences. Enable dark mode on every web page or give websites a sepia tone. Enable or disable Dark Reader for specific websites, automatically sync with system dark mode, or detect already dark websites and leave them unchanged.
This is the original Dark Reader extension. Since 2014, we continuously evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support for people sensitive to bright light.

Been using Dark Reader for quite a long time, and I like it. Is it me but the fonts colours settings have been removed? Am I missing something here? That was my favourite feature.

All positive reviews say all I want to say. Advanced users: (Not sure if this was mentioned) Use Inspect on any website to find code and further modify CSS code so you can override practically any item, text, image, apply color filters, make something completely invisible if you like, change spacing, etc. This takes patience and experience with CSS but I've modified Gmail, bank websites, Facebook, and many others to look better for my experience. CSS for inverting Google Drive document previews too look better in dark mode. (There may be a way to combine the two file types but I didn't take the time to learn this yet.) Just go into Settings > Dev Tools and find / add the code below: ================================ drive.google.com CSS /* .txt and .doc file previews get an invert. */ img[class="a-q-zb-Ua ta-gc-np-Nd"][alt*=".txt"] { filter: invert(90%) !important; } img[class="a-q-zb-Ua ta-gc-np-Nd"][alt*=".doc"] { filter: invert(90%) !important; } ================================

The most stable, convenient and hassle-free plugin for the dark theme I have found. Hotkeys for theme toggles are very useful.
Works well for me with very minor issues on some sites.
The best technology they have might only be in testing mode now, but it is super needed and makes this dark mode extension the best; AUTO which basically detects if a page is already running dark mode and therefore will not activate in that case. I know that I have had to go into dev tools to try it out, but seriously, it is now essential for me, because that is literally the only problem as more and more sights offer dark mode options and I love that more and more people are choosing it, driving demand. So naturally these extensions aren't as needed, and might one day be useless, but i cannot overstate how much eye strain it has saved me over the years, and how it is even getting better, so thanks to the devs, I cannot recommend enough!
