Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

I want my BACKSPACE NATIVE! NOT A FRIGGIN EXTENSION! Either one RIGHT CTRL+BACKSPAEC or make CONFIRMATION FOR FORM RELATED WEBSITES! if Form Exists do Confirm_used_Backspace

Finally added shift-backspace to go forward so it works mostly the same as before they took it out. Still doesn't work on new tab page.

Should be put back in the browser. I hate that the "touch" generation is killing off the old fashion mouse and keyboard users.

1 star because I should have never needed it. This is what settings and flags are for. Alt+Left was a two handed job since AltGr+Left didn't work. Google trying to fix a problem that lies with the websites themselves, the sites that lose focus on text inputs. As a developer my websites never lose focus on text inputs...

I'm really wondering about such non-standards. I use BACKSPACE for years now, to go back to the previous page... not only in Chrome, but in many, many other software as well - are you going to force other software distributors to eliminate this one-button-feature as well? :-S Very strange behaviour to force longterm-users to new features. :-(

It doesn't even work. Am I supposed to re-start or something? Frustrating and dumb that they got rid of the backspace as "back" in Chrome, but the fix doesn't even work! Ughhhh.

Really love this plugin. ALT+arrow combination is not good at all. I agree, it seems as a bad dilbert comic strip is alive by google:s "Pointy-haired Boss".
