Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

It is a nonsense having to download an extension to enable this feature. I wonder if Google is really aware how users interact with their product.

Ridiculous to have an extension for something that is used daily by a LOT of people. Every day I feel more and more annoyed using Chrome....

replacing backspace voor page back is fine when it is replaced by one key, not two which require two hands. with the plugin i use one hand again for quick back and les mouse use or simultatius.

The fact that you're all rating this 1 start meant I had to spend way too much time reading reviews to figure out if this thing actually worked. This extension seems to mostly work, aside form some edge cases where the original key maybe also acted up.

Works great, until you hit a Flash or Java applet. Unfortunately there's a bug which treats Backspace as a back button when Flash or Java controls are active, which is a big problem if you're in a Flash or Java textfield. Will give full stars if they fix this.

I agree that changing the browser's default behavior is a "one star" change, but this extension to fix it works perfectly. So, I'm rating THE EXTENSION 5 stars. It seems like this could have been a config flag instead, but I'm sure there's some asinine policy about "not using flags when they could be really helpful for the target userbase but not helpful for developers" or some such nonsense.

Seem to be taking a step backwards by removing fairly standard and regularly used functionality in order to fix something that most websites deal with already. Surely it would have made more sense to either add an option in the settings or create an extension to 'Not Go Back With Backspace' for those who struggle with the standard behavior. Don't fix what isn't broken!

I'm surprised this extension's name is not "Do Nothing On Backspace". Because it should be enabled by default. Removing expected behaviour from the UX is never a good idea.

1 star for the need of this extension for a std. behavior and for not giving the option to re-enable it in settings. this alt + leftarr is ... simply annoying. now you need two fingers on two hands... great job ... NOT!
