What's New in 3.0:
==================
* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Yo, all you geniuses giving this app one-star reviews because "the extension shouldn't need to exist," quit downvoting the extension if you want things fixed. The extension is a godsend because the default behavior is now crap. If this app gets a ton of downloads with five star reviews, not only will it show up for other people who would want this extension, but it sends the message that we want the backspace back. If people see this app is widely disliked, it's more likely that google will think they made the right decision by changing the configuration. Send this extension to the top! Let the world know that this exists and we might be able to get the change we want!
Would give higher since it does do what I want it to do, but since this extension 'fixes' an issue Chrome caused, I will give it an in the middle rating. Should not have had to do an extension for a function that many more users than they realized were usinig.
Basic features like this should always be optional. I shouldn't have to add an extension to the browser to get back the functionality I am used to having. That being said, at least nothing else major was changed. A little 'heads-up' next time would be very useful! As far as the extension goes, it works great! Just like before.
What's with people rating 1 star for an extension that patches a broken update to Chrome! If your rant is with Google then rant at Google. I agree that chrome shouldn't dumb down to the lowest common denominator and that absolutely this should be a checkbox in settings. It could say something like "are you an idiot?" and if you select yes then disable the back button... otherwise leave the UX alone
Works as intended. Sure Google getting rid of the key was annoying (I run a beta Chrome) the extension shouldn't get 1 star reviews if it's doing it's job.
Can't believe there isn't a native option for this.
This extension should not need to exist, but I am happy that it does. To the many people rating this as one star because Chrome should not have broken the backspace behavior in the first place: I am frustrated like you, but rating this extension as one star has the opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve. In order to get the chrome dev team to do what is right (i.e. make backspace go back in the browser by default, and allow people to turn OFF that behavior), this exension should be the most popular extension in the world!

For God's sake thank you Google! But why did you have to disable this feature? People were using it for decades..
