Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

CODE IT INTO THE BROWSER! Why the fudge we need to install an extension for a feature that has been around for a very long time?

When typing text in a game (think curvefever 2), this extension hijacks my back-key...

Needing to install a extension to re-enable a feature that has been in muscle memory more than 20 years is just plain stupid. Removing this from basic Chrome features is crazy and very stupid decision.

Google změnil funkcionalitu svého prohlížeče, aby mohl vydat rozšíření, které ji vrací nazpět. Když se někdo nudí a nepřemýšlí..

How about some options to have a different key for navigating back and disregard input boxes in that case? The new standard Alt-left is not acceptable as it's a two-hand combination on national keyboards that have AltGr on right side, which works as Alt-Ctrl. I would use Shift-Backspace as Navigate back (it used to be Navigate Forward, which is almost never used). But I would prefer it to do its thing consistently, no matter what is focused.

Doesn't always work. Should not need an extension to correct a bad "bug fix" in Chrome. The "except when writing text" part does not work most of the time. This was never an issue before Chrome changed the backspace behavior.

just bring it back. I don't want a bloatware chrome extension for every deleted useful shortcut.
