* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

I understand the reasoning for removing the "backspace" back functionality, but I'm set in my ways, and can't live without it. :)
The fact that I have to install an add-on to fix proper browser functionality is ridiculous. However, the add-on does work.
I agree with the others here, the extension should have been used to disable backspace for back. I downloaded it and it's not working anyway. So annoying. Edit: it started working, but I still think it's the wrong way to give everybody what they want.
This should be built into the application and default behavior, not an extension. This isn't the first time a change was made based on some BS statistics. (I'm sure they are counting Android users not using backspace in their statistics) It doesn't even work. While in Flash, backspace will navigate you back a page, even though you were in a textbox. If you are focusing a drop down and hit backspace, you will navigate back a page. In addition, the new default multi-key bind is commonly used in many web apps. Time to switch back to FireFox...
What was wrong with navigating back with backspace? Was this extension lying around and you removed back-with-backspace from chrome so you can release this extension? Bring back back-with-backspace in chrome!
Really Google? Really? almost 100.000 peoples downloaded it! Are you really going to let them all just rant like crazy??
Should just be an option in the settings.....
Thanks for the extension, but would much, much prefer this be an advanced chrome option / flag.
Si una extensión puede discriminar entre retroceder/borrar, no veo por qué no lo puede hacer el navegador. Pienso igual que @clonadito, crearon una necesidad por nada.
