The search and other features (like in the left panel) have changed. It's trying to look a bit fancy only but it has removed what made it useful and popular in the first place. Failed. Failed. Failed. I have to remove this extension.

Thanks to whoever decided to remove the immediate delete click on an hovered-over link, I have now accidently deleted an ENTIRE collection of carefully collected links for over a YEAR now with seemingly NO way to recover that collection! I'm keeping that tab open in case SOMEHOW someone found a way to instantly recover it, but the fact that this isn't revertible unless you are INHUMANLY aware of what you just did and DO NOT miss the Undo command before is disappears into the ether!. REVERT. THIS. UPDATE. NOW.

Update on Mar 13, 2024 makes this utterly useless. Some moron designer decided to do away with the most useful features completely! Cannot filter the tabs to select only tabs matching the search term - this was one of THE. MOST. USEFUL. FEATURES. I used Session Buddy for!

Worked fine for over 10 straight years with plenty of functionality. New update yesterday ruined most of what was good about it overnight. Funniest thing is, it corrupt and reset itself to force the update, then told me I suddenly have no saved sessions, but I can import via the export file, which I don't have. Ha. Text/paste/import by any other means is no longer supported for inexplicable reasons. Editing sessions is no longer supported, only individual titles and urls of already-saved tabs. Dev screwed up. Must have sold the rights away to someone else. Uninstalled. Do not waste your time, there are other extensions that do this job better anyway.

=== v4 release review === I still have faith (and I'm holding out for Tab Group support). But agreed with the others: kind of a weird update -- some good foundational changes, but many unnecessary, confusing, and strange changes. === Most Important === cmd+b is used for bold in many web app text editors -- and this latest update blocks that usability. If you ignore everything else here: you should at least fix that asap to retain users. === From the v4 release notes === > Completing support for tab groups is at the top of our list of priorities and the underlying changes required to view and edit them are already included in this release. Literially the first thing I looked for in the release notes. Really excited for this! Thank you! > A “Saved Session”, which is created by saving open tabs, is now known as a “Collection”. So it's not really "Session Buddy" anymore then... it's "Collection Buddy" ? :b On a serious note: Was there a good reason to switch over to a new terminology that deviates from [a] the extension name and [b] what your long-term user base is accustomed to? > When open windows and tabs are saved as a collection, windows are saved as “Folders” and tabs are saved as “Links”. But... why? This breaks the visual pattern + conceptual parallel... and there doesn't seem to be a good reason to do this. I do understand you're trying to establish a paradigm that "Windows" are open and "Folders" are saved, but there doesn't seem to be any benefit to call the same thing two different phrases. Because it's already implied that the windows in the active session (aka "This Browser" using v4 terminology) are open, and the saved windows in the saved sessions are... well... saved windows from a previous session. I don't think there's a good reason for this change unless you're going to add actual folders for a nested bookmarking solution. For prototyping before you publish a release, try having a new user go through the product, then point at different parts of the app, and have them explain what each feature does. In the real world, people are familiar with "windows" and "tabs" in this domain. They're going to call these "saved windows" and "saved tabs". Again, unless you're going to make a full bookmarking system with folders, then you shouldn't arbitrarily rename tried and true (and familiar) nomenclatures. > “Previous Sessions” have been replaced by a new History feature. More on that below. Prevoius Sessions (aka "Collections" using v4 terminology) are also a kind of History -- Previous Sessions are just a user triggered snapshot, that's the point of the app. Why not just call this section "Automated Snapshots" instead of "History" ? -- update -- Ah, I read https://sessionbuddy.com/v4/ but didn't realize it wasn't the FAQ. After reading https://sessionbuddy.com/v4-faq/ , I see the History button opens a sidebar -- very cool! Consider visually distinguishing the History button from its neighbor Save button + tripple-dot button. Also the Save button and the tripple-dot button operate on the current view, but the History button is totally its own thing -- consider changing the layout. And potentially consider surfacing the History button where users who never stay in the active Session ("This browser") tab will still have access to it -- there doesn't seem to be a good reason to hide the history button when you're looking at previous Sessions of saved windows. :) === Closing Remarks === I don't mean to be overly harsh, but this is an extension used by millions -- and I've really loved it for years. I'd love to see this still around in 10+ years. So please consider this age-old phrase: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

READ: Make sure to see the "History" button in the upper right. I almost lost all imaginable sanity, when ALL of my tab sessions had disappeared from the Left side which is where they used to be. Its now just your collections. Woah! But other than that I look forward to looking for all remaining features or not. I will say that opening 175 tabs across 45 some windows, it took a while longer, but immediately put all TABS into memory saving mode.

Still handy, but removal of some features was surprising. However, having to change the chrome hotkey is a hassle. Everyone knows that ⌘B is universal for most apps for bold text. For those who want to change/"fix" it type in "chrome://extensions/shortcuts" (without quotes) in the search bar.

went from an amazing extension to literally useless. what's the point of a tab manager if it can't even save and remember the last sessions on its own. basically doesn't work at all right now. worse than chrome's built in tab manager. at least chrome's tab manager remember the last tabs I had opened. this thing doesn't even remember that unless I go into the extension and manually save my current session. If this is an intended update. than good luck with your extension developer/developers. and why can't we simply click on the saved tabs or on their url links to open the tabs in the current chrome window? why do we have to right click and then select in in current window. its like we going backwards like google has been doing with their software functionalities. Edit: seems like they moved everything over to history tab and you can't manage the history 1 by 1. you can either clear all of the snapshots created in the history or leave them until new ones take over. I think Developer would benefit from bringing back the previous history management options where we can delete certain tabs from the snapshots created or delete certain snapshots all together. allows for better management. and of course also allowing us to simply click the tab to open it in current window would be great. I guess developer has a lot of work to do to make this extension useful again. Until dev. actually makes this ext useful again. leaving review at 2 stars. good luck

Released a new "v4" update today which actively removed almost every level of functionality I used the application for. Can't quickly open or delete tabs, can't do ANY cleanup of previous sessions (it's called history now, and it's essentially read-only). They actively say they know you can't delete tabs or sessions from the history section and it'll be added in a future update. This was NOT anywhere near ready for release, and there's no option to revert to a working older version. The new UI/UX is incredibly inefficient and should have been opt-in only.
