High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Doesn't work for pdfs and google docs, which are the main uses for a student like me : reading pdf articles, taking notes in docs... Too bad. Other extensions like "Deluminate" have other issues : they don't keep colours as bright and tend to attenuate every colours, making text formatting painful for the eyes (varieties of grey)

Does the job for some sites, but it has no options to invert only white to black and text, and leave pictures alone. Also constantly buggy and doesn't work from page to page often; And it's hard to trust an extension.

This works perfectly and suited my needs. It completely reduced the glare and brightness of absolutely every webpage. I needed this to be able to leave my screen on and YouTube open as I sleep, so I can listen to music as I fall asleep. However, the white screen was so bright. This is a total lifesaver. It works flawlessly and does everything that it says it is able to do. I am using this on an Acer Chromebook 11. 10/10 would recommend,
