great privacy protection. Lovi it
This company is all about choice when it comes to your data and privacy, yet this extension completely takes over your default search engine setting. You are forced to use DuckDuckGo in the Chrome omnibox. Once the extension is activated, there is no way to change this option. It's all or nothing. If a user isn't logged into Google when they use Chrome, Google is not tracking their search history. It can't. The claim by DuckDuckGo that Google search is constantly tracking a user conveniently omits this fact. Ad tracking using cookies (which many companies do) is a different story, and that's not what I'm talking about here. This isn't a defense of Google. I think their privacy practices are not good, which is why I never keep myself logged into it when searching/browsing. I was starting to like DuckDuckGo as an alternative search engine and internet privacy company, but the above stated behavior of this extension left a bad taste in my mouth. Will be looking for an alternative privacy extension.
If you are beginning to get little ads popping up, not just on Google, but actually on your device, it's really hard to get rid of. And pretty annoying. I mean, I love Google, who wouldn't, it's a fantastic search engine, but some of the things they've been doing have got to stop. I think that switching to this could really help you, and might even gently nudge Google towards the fact that 'NOBODY WANTS TO BE TRACKED ALRIGHT, GOOGLE? PRIVACY BOUNDARIES, HELLO?' This is an amazing search engine. I really like how it says whether the website you're on is safe or not, and the advert which I saw really changed my mind about Google. I didn't realise how low and underhand Google was, so now that I've seen the advert, I've definitely changed my mind. DuckDuckGo is fantastic. It's just as good as Google, but without all the tracking, and overall, everyone needs a little DuckDuckGo on their device, it really helps.
