Try h264ify if YouTube videos stutter, take up too much CPU, eat battery life, or make your laptop hot.
By default, YouTube streams VP8/VP9 encoded video. However, this can cause problems with less powerful machines because VP8/VP9 is not typically hardware accelerated.
In contrast, H.264 is commonly hardware accelerated by GPUs, which usually means smoother video playback and reduced CPU usage. h264ify makes YouTube stream H.264 videos instead of VP8/VP9 videos.
Note: 4K and 1440p videos will not be available because YouTube no longer encodes those videos in H.264

보통 최신 NVIDIA 20XX(1080TI 그리고 16XX시리즈 포함) 이상 그래픽 카드 사용하면 (참조 : https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix) VP9을 지원하니 필요없으나 그 이하는 H.264까지만 지원하는 경우가 대부분이니 설치하시면 좋아요.(코덱 미지원 시스템에서 CPU 점유율 낮춤) 다만 유투브에서 코덱 라이센스 비용 아낄려고 4K는 VP9밖에 지원안하니 4K는 안됩니다. 이 앱의 문제가 아닙니다. 이 앱은 사용자의 코덱 선택을 넓혀주는 좋은 앱입니다.

Works well.
Нагрузка на проц упала вдвое, теперь при просмотре FullHD система вообще не напрягается. Хотя и странно, что из выбора пропали опции выше FullHD, я то хотел посмотреть вытянет ли система 4К.

I do not understand. There is zero difference on Task Manager. Without this extension on, my PC was already using its Intel GPU to decode the video... I thought YouTube's format didn't allow hardware decoding in Chrome by default...???? Is this because my PC is newer, and it can hardware accelerate VP9?
i have a VERY bad laptop, it would lag seriously until i change the res to 480p now that i installled this extension Thanks!
My favorite extension, necessary for everyone who uses Macbooks... Unfortunately seems to not work with Brave.
