"Audio only youtube" chrome extension enables you to disable only video on youtube which saves internet usage more than 50% when you want to listen songs on youtube.
**Note: It doesn't support Youtube Live Videos.**
You can enable/disable it by just clicking on the icon shown in the extension bar.

The extension is great and I love it
Love this Extension!! Use it almost every day but owner has now updated permissions to peep my browsing history so uninstalled and I would recommend the same.
it worked when I just got it, after a few days there seems to be a bug with it. What it does is it works for the first 10 seconds of the video, then it buffers, then the video is now playing instead of doing its purpose. please fix this bug

It does seem to be very nice. Works quite well. I would like support for music.youtube.com to be added as the Progressive Web App version for Win does not seem to support/show any options for video playback.
This perfectly satisfies my desire to save on bandwidth and electricity -- keep greener without a lot of hassle! I do love it. As others have mentioned there's the little usability quirk of the extensions "on/off" setting applying to all tabs of a window as well as having to reload the page after changing from off to on and vice versa. Note: multiple chrome windows do not share the same on/off state. Personally, I use youtube for listening to music way more often than to watch videos. Whenever i want to watch a video I copy the URL, open chome in private mode and paste the URL. This is done using a few key strokes: - CTRL+L (focus on address bar and select contents) - CTRL+C (copy to clipboard) - CTRL+SHIFT+N (open a chrome window in private mode, address bar is selected by default) - CTRL+V (paste from clipboard) - Enter
it's fake, it only prevents display, it doesn't make youtube transfer audio only!
Pretty good. Would be cool to disable thumnails of recommended vidoes (basically all images) as well, as thats a fairly significant portion of data too.
Works like a charm.... I've been wasting my internet quota this whole time
