Overview

Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

Amazon is flooded with trademark-squat "brands": SZHLUX, HORUSDY, LATTOOK, DOZAWA... random strings registered purely to unlock Amazon Brand Registry, selling commodity goods with no company, no warranty, and no reputation behind them.

Knockoff detects those listings and hides, dims, or labels them, right in the search results. Buy from real, established brands, even when that means paying more.

HOW IT WORKS

Every product tile's brand is checked locally, on your device:

• Your personal allowlist and blocklist always win

• A curated list of ~5,000 established brands, plus the community AmazonBrandFilterList, refreshed daily

Pretty much has everything I would have asked for in an extension, however the website shows it can block sponsored results via a setting. It appears to have no function nor setting for this.

Discovered this from an X post and it’s exactly what I was hoping for. Knockoff does a great job cleaning up Amazon search results by dimming or completely hiding those sketchy pseudo-brands (the random all-caps names that flood results). The filter levels (Relaxed / Standard / Strict) work well, and the ability to quickly add your own trusted or blocked brands is a nice touch. It feels like shopping on a much cleaner version of Amazon. What really stands out though is how privacy-respecting it is. After looking into the permissions, this extension is extremely minimal — it only asks for local storage. No broad tab access, no scripting on other sites, no web request monitoring, and no tracking or accounts. Everything processes locally in your browser. It only makes one cached daily request to its own API for brand list updates and supports optional anonymous reports. The Firefox version even explicitly declares no data collection. It’s also fully open source (FSL-1.1-MIT, converting to MIT) here: https://github.com/Shpigford/knockoff If you’re tired of wading through questionable brands on Amazon, this is a solid, trustworthy tool. Clean results with strong privacy — highly recommended.

Works exactly as advertised and helps eliminate the flood of garbage that makes browsing Amazon so insufferable so much of the time. It's a great idea and well-executed.

Fast and unobtrusive. Makes Amazon much easier to use when shopping for generic products and everyday essentials. Developer did a good job balancing visibility on the page without taking over and breaking the website.
