The interface in version 3.5.5 is not as good as the previous one. Why were the icons in front of ‘Print,’ ‘PDF,’ and ‘Email’ removed? It’s really less aesthetically pleasing than before. Please restore the previous interface. Thank you very much!please!
doesn't add the date/time/web address as a header/footer. pretty useless oversight
I don't have a clue of how this app got installed in my browser as I am the only user, but I just got home and as soon as I opened chrome, got the "print friendly extension has been installed" tab/message out of the blue. No my computer is not hacked, no I didn't install it by accident.
It works as it is supposed to. I would have given it 5-stars, except that the app has no instructions as to how to print. Even when going to the FAQs, I'm told to go to the home page and copy the URL to print. It would help if there were instructions which said: Copy the URL of the page you wish to print. Go to www.printfriendly.com and scroll down the page until you see the instructions which say "Or enter a URL to make it printer-friendly or PDF:". Click on "Preview." When the Preview page comes up you can delete text by highlighting it and hitting enter, or clicking on the trashcan on the left side of the yellow line." It would also be nice if there were a way to replace deleted text back in the text to be printed (like the Control-Z in most programs).
Era un'ottima estensione, consentiva alcune personalizzazioni, ora non funziona più e non capisco perchè.
Почему это расширение устанавливается само по себе?! Я удалял его дважды!
Like the previous reviewers I discovered PrintFriendly had been installed without my request or permission. I don't care that it's a legit extension. Shame on you! Reported to Chrome and I advise anyone else reading these reviews to do the same. Take note Chrome.
This has been a handy extension for nearly 15 years. It allows you to customize/declutter a web page before printing and/or saving as a PDF. A recent update (3/9/24) started pushing a notification to Chrome browser via a new tab (something many other extensions do, to let you know it's been updated) but with a misleading image that makes it appear to be a new/fresh install. It isn't. It's just an update. It'd be a good idea to have an update redirect for updates vs. the intro page meant for first time installs.
I also found this unrequested or approved web page announcing a new install. According to the change log just above this review you have added a new welcome page as of 2024-03-08. Thanks for raising my blood pressure with a Malware scare. I ran MalwareBytes and it came up clean. The web address of the unwelcome "print friendly is installed" web page https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/printfriendly-print-and-p/ohlencieiipommannpdfcmfdpjjmeolj actually matches the address of the Chrome web store page I am typing this review on. So presumably this new web page announcement is legit. Doing a search It looks as if Google Chrome extension updates are automatically installed. Brave browser (uses Chrome) updates download in the background and require a browser restart to install them. PrintFriendly Extension, your intentions seem good but "aware" computer users hate surprises. My Brave home page tells me it has blocked 3/4 of a million trackers and ads so far. It is not safe out there friends. And it is not getting better. UPDATED 2024-04-16 Adjusted rating to 5. This is still the best tool I have to create a PDF from a web page. The only way to make it better would be to give us some options for the automatic pdf filename - I always add the date ( 2024-04-16 using text expander ) at the front so it sorts correctly ( for me ). I add the URL Domain at the end ( Chromewebstore for example ). If I don't pdf it on the actual publish date I manually type that instead. There is no easy way to automate that although editing the current date to a few days ago is easy. You have a great tool here. Keep up the good work.
This extension installed itself on my Chrome browser today with zero permission. I've not clicked anything, requested anything, nor have I visited the Chrome extension store – it's simply appeared installed and opened a fresh web page. And is now requesting full access permission! Baffling, as this extension seemingly has over a million happy users... I have dozens of existing and brilliant extensions installed and this has absolutely never happened before. Reported to Google for close review at least.
