I installed this extension a few months ago for the single purpose of getting all those "Your friend liked this post from people you never heard of that you don't want to see" things in my feed. But it does so much more, and now I take advantage of some of those other things, too. I especially like that everything it hides is still accessible with a single click. I used to check those things to make sure it wasn't hiding stuff I wanted; now I don't and I just trust it. I've recommended this extension to lots of my friends; I can't say enough good things about it.
This extension is absolutely essential for me to even go onto Facebook, because I can't stand 90% of the crap my friends and family posts, and this helps me to cut through all of that garbage to see only their status updates.

This has taken over from Social Fixer for me as the add on which makes Facebook tolerable on both Chrome and, ahem, Firebox. Recommended.
Simply speaking it makes Facebook usable.
Facebook would be intolerable without it.
