It will help you optimize your video viewing by allowing you to make quick playback speed adjustments, as well as rewind the video to hear the last few second one more time. We don't read at a constant speed, and we talk much slower than we read - there is no reason why we have to listen at a constant speed and at a (very) slow rate.
Once the extension is installed simply navigate to any page that offers HTML5 video, and you'll see a speed indicator in top left corner of the video player. Hover over the indicator to reveal the controls to accelerate, slowdown, or rewind the video (10 seconds + lowers playback speed). Or, even better, use your keyboard:
- S - decrease playback speed.
- D - increase playback speed.
- R - reset playback speed.

Love it! Use it every day! Wish there was a way to set a default speed on all videos.
Works perfectly, it's surprisingly handy. I only wish it had a "total time saved" counter to let me know how much of my life was saved by it :D
I am teacher and found it very useful. Students can use this extension to customize the speed of the educational videos for better learning experience. I rate this extension 5 STARS. Every student must use it with all video tutorials.

I can't even tell you how excited I am to have found this amazing extension!!! I almost never watch anything in real speed on YouTube anymore, but then I'd go on Facebook and feel like I was suffocating not having an option to speed it up. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Update on 9/10/25 In the past few days my reset speed randomly switched to .3 and it was so annoying! I just saw many other recent reviews complaining about this, too, but I went into advanced settings and was able to change it back to 1.0 (normal speed). So if that's happened to you recently and it's bugging you there's an easy fix. =) I still love this extension SO much!!!

Minimalist. Does exactly what it says it does very well. Should be standard on all browsers.
Super useful add on! Only wish that I could find a way to change the default speed so that all videos play at 1.5x speed instead of having to draw it up every time I start a video. (EDIT: I Seem to have solved it by ticking the "remember speed" button in the settings
I love how you can increment by x0.1 steps (or modify the step size in settings). Such a simple app!
