The browser needs to open each of your bookmarks to update its icon, so a new window will be opened in the background. This window is used to open all your bookmarks one by one. Do not pay attention to this window, it's going to be closed when all the icons are updated.

Yay! It worked! Thank you very much.
Did not work for me at all and restored maybe a dozen favicons out of several hundred before simply crashing the browser. Too bad Checkmarks is not available in Chrome.
I highly recommend this extension When a favicon is infected or damaged, this is the tool, to repair the Bookmarks icons collectively, and not to repair each icon separately.
