Terrible. Why does everything Google makes feel beta, this is more like alpha stage. Back to the URL for me. They really should just add voice to hangouts and call it a day. That way it sits next to the clock (windows) and allows me to have little chat pop ups ..

As others mentioned, the popup is very buggy on Mac - won't disappear without restarting chrome.
would be lovely if they can make it work more like texting on a cellphone than email on a laptop.
To be clear, this 1 star rating is for this extension, not for Google Voice as a whole. This extension has gotten progressively worse. The pop-up notifications simply do not work. No sound is heard with a new message. The phone number click-to-call feature is overridden by the Hangout's Plug-in (so clicking the number starts a call in hangouts). The icon does change with a new message/missed call, but lags.

One of the best apps yet.I use it on my home phone and do not pay for any long distance calls. Also running a home based business, it is useful to have texts and calls forwarded to my cell, I can record calls , screen and even listen to the message as it's being left and decide whether or not to answer it or let the voicemail pick it up OR my personal answering machine. I can keep track of conversations, all without having to use my email program. Also, I can choose whether or not to receive an email notifying me of new calls and/or texts....Not sure how the extension on my toolbar will function, but as a whole, I LOVE GOOGLE VOICE and would highly recommend it! **One Suggestion I have: allow sending and receiving of files to text messages** That would make the app simply PERFECT!
Easier to use the voice module in Gmail. This never works for me
