It's not a true "View Image" button as the one that was removed. All it does is to open the "preview" in a new window (you can confirm this by comparing the URLs). So it doesn't work when needed, like when you try to open a large image or one embedded in a PDF. You can easily replace this extension by right-clicking the image preview and choosing "Open image in new tab".

I luv this extention. Google just broke the extension as of writing (not developer's fault). Google is getting more ridiculously PC lately. Use Bing, they don't have the draconic restriction yet. Google will be another Myspace company. Gone!!!
