As a Japanese dictionary, rikaikun helps you look up the only the words you don't know without losing your place. It's also useful for Japanese speakers wanting to know how to say Japanese phrases in English.

Seems to be the best of its kind for chrome.
Perfect for those times you can almost understand the sentence so don't want to paste the whole thing into a translation engine.
Unlike the ubiquitous Chinese 汉语拼音 (hànyǔ pīnyīn), Japanese dictionaries often do not indicate standard NHK pronunciation accent marks. あめ may mean rain(雨) or candy(飴). And はし may mean bridge(橋) or chopsticks(箸). There is nothing like repetitive hearing reinforcement when mousing over. Please include accent markings.

takes a long of time to turn on
I love rikaikun, I have used it for years and years, first in Firefox and now on Chrome. It is one of the first extensions I get and it has yet to let me down. So useful for anyone working with/using/loving Japanese, a must-have most certainly!
