I've had my ROBLOX account since 2013. Some friends showed me this extension a few weeks ago, it looked helpful and I installed it. No flags on my account or anything, because I didn't play condo games, didn't have condo players on my friends list (which Rotector helped me know which was very useful, especially after clearing my friends list), didn't join condo servers and even then didn't have a Discord account linked to my ROBLOX account (or any account linked to my ROBLOX for that matter). Around a week after installing the extension, I was suddenly told extension access was revoked because my account was flagged. Checking my account, it said there was no flag on it. Not only was it weird to apparently be flagged despite all the stuff I listed earlier, it was extra weird that for an account i've used since 2013 it only *did* get flagged days after I installed the extension. Anyway, figuring it was just the AI being weird or something, or maybe a Discord account that has the same username as my ROBLOX account since my ROBLOX and Discord usernames are different, I tried making an appeal. After waiting almost a week for a response, I was asked to give my ROBLOX user ID. After giving the user ID, I waited a few days again. The appeal came back, saying, with complete confidence, that I owned some alt account that i'd never heard of before in my life. It was some guy who was friends with a bunch of condo players and only played games like "Da Hood" and "R-Basketball" and "Racing" or something. A friend looked him up and apparently he was literally banned from Discord for posting CSAM. Never heard of the guy until now, and all of a sudden this appeal is saying with complete confidence that THIS guy is me, it was just as confusing as it was worrying. I tried saying that this wasn't me, I had never heard of this account before, you know the deal. The guy in charge of the appeal completely stonewalled me, only saying "This account is yours." and "Don't lie to me.". To them I was guilty and the burden of proof was on me to prove I wasn't diddy 2.0 playing ROBLOX Basketball all day. No idea what their AI told them but apparently they were absolutely sure it was true. Except for some reason even then I didn't have a flag on my account, only got extension access revoked. I eventually contacted a friend, who could personally talk to members of a moderation team on some ROBLOX Protection group, I wasn't told which one but I believe it was linked to Rotector, called the "all-seeing eye" or something from what he told me. After talking to him for a bit, all of a sudden extension access was brought back, and all was well. For a few weeks. A few weeks later, the exact same thing happened again. Once again no flag on my account but extension access is revoked saying I have a flag on my account. I hardly played ROBLOX at this point, so I just gave up on these stupid appeals that merely wait a week just to say "The AI told me so, don't lie to me." That same friend told me that the most likely reason might be because I was using a free peer-to-peer VPN, and a crackpot theory was that maybe that other guy was using the same VPN so it appeared as us having the same IP or something. But at that point I was done with this. The stupid theorizing on why I was suddenly linked to some diddler I never heard of in my life, the burden of proof being on ME to prove I was innocent from a baseless accusation, the unhelpful downright condescending nature of appeals ignoring me saying "Don't lie to me." until I went over his head thanks to the help of my friend, and all the dumb theorizing we did on why the hell I was flagged in the first place because no way in hell were they saying anything on *how* I got flagged in the first place, even after the first one was removed. I did not bother appealing the 2nd time around and uninstalled. Edit: The review after mine confirmed my suspicion. This logs your IP, sends it and it will flag you for ever using a VPN.
Appeals don't work at all, they don't reply "typically in a day".
I'm very halfway on this extension. It helped me filter out my friends list, I really do like the evidence they supply on unsafe users profiles as I think it proved the extensions legitimacy. It's crazy how many unsafe users this extension has caught and I find it to be helpful. But I do really hope in the future more staff come around, I'm trying to get rid of a false flag and I've waited a week for a response. I think its really disappointing how many people get falsely flagged, and I've only heard bad things about the AI that flags accounts and the appeal system. Along with this, this extension provides no help for victims. You cannot flag a victim or let alone someone young and make them look like a bad actor, and then the make the victim look like a predator because you didn't want to remove the flag. I've been groomed myself, not on Roblox, but on a different platform. It sucks. My groomer had blackmailed me and threatened me if I ever made the choice to leave him, hence why my friends had to pry me away from him. This wasn't my fault, nor were the things he had done to me. Don't make a victim look a predator because technically saying this victim 'did it to themselves'.
very nice
There are a lot of reviews here that are either unfairly negative from users who got flagged, or artificially positive to counter that. I think that the extension has potential, but it has some real problems worth addressing. The positives: - The extension appears to be working as a deterrent. I have personally observed a number of accounts with histories of egregious behavior (weird avatars, "condo activity," and the like) that have recently cleaned up their act. That is a good outcome and makes the platform safer for everyone, especially children. - Rotector does a solid job of flagging a large number of bad actors. Accounts involved in "condo games," affiliated with related groups, or connected to a disproportionate number of flagged users are generally caught for good reason. A lot of people seem to forget that children use this platform, and tools that call out behavior putting them at risk are good. The negatives: - False positives do happen. The extension uses AI as part of its detection, and no AI is perfect. - The staff team is significantly understaffed for what they are trying to accomplish. Tickets take a long time to get answered, and the ticketing system itself is frustrating to use. Having to clear your browser cookies just to submit a new ticket is an unnecessary hassle. For anyone trying to appeal a flag or, in my case, report a large number of users that the AI misses, the process needs to be far more streamlined than it currently is. The staff are not entirely to blame since they are actively looking to grow the team, but their current capacity is insufficient. I think the extension does more good than harm. There are a lot of problematic users on this platform, and they deserve to be exposed. That said, the tooling and administration behind Rotector need meaningful improvement to match the project's ambitions. UPDATE: Lowering it to 3 stars for two reasons. Expanding the staff team has been an extremely slow process (and I've been told by staff it isn't even being worked on at all). I also don't like how they handled the Zeal (owner of Pressure) case. I understand this is a controversial situation, and I don't know enough about the situation to comment on it. Having said that, to flag a user due to pressure from Twitter (which the community has ironically criticized in their Discord server for "being dumb") rather than viewing the facts of the situation and hearing both sides (this flag was removed when Zeal's side was shared) is a bad look. While I still believe the extension does more bad than good, as any and all cases I've brought to staff (the few they responded to) were correctly flagged, I understand this isn't always the case.
these mfing gooners thinking doing 1 star reviews gonna do sum keep crying
Amazing extension with an amazing concept!! I'd take the 1 star reviews with a grain of salt, as a lot seem to be people who are mad they got caught doing inappropriate things on roblox...
I am a minor and I have been flagged, I am not even in the server and you're accusing my account of some "CondoHub", if you're gonna false flag people and then proceed to show it to others and give them a bad reputation, take down your extension at this point and use it for yourself.
