On my Chromebook, I'm able to get a DOC file to open after downloading from Google Drive and dragging into a blank Chrome window. Unable to edit. Screen shows "download" and "share" which doesn't make any sense because the file is already downloaded and you can't share a local file.
DO NOT WORK ANY MORE This was a fine extension for Google drive. But on windows PCs it does not work anymore. I seems to be an issues with Microsoft Windows or if you have never versions of MS office installed on your windows computer. It stopped working as I got newer versions of office installed at my computer.
C'est une extension assez sympa mais qui ne peux pas remplacer Microsoft Office. Le manque d'outils et surtout de polices de caractères ( celles dans le dossier Windows/Fonts )en font un service vraiment inutile. This addon could be really cool but for now, it can't replace Microsoft Office. The lack of tools and of fonts ( the ones in Windows/Fonts ) makes this addon really useless.
Does not work for me: webcomponents-lite.js gets net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND and console shows crash reporting not allowed. On Chromium. Need more details? Email firstname at firstname dot xyz.

The single reason why I wont be buying a chromebook again. Makes working between a chromebook and word an absolute nightmare.
No me funciona, no abre la app.
Here's the deal. It works but it isn't user friendly AT ALL. First open your google browser. Click on the square buttons icon. Go to extensions. Click on Docs. It should open. Click the plus sign (+) and you get a blank page to work with. When you get the "untitled document", you can open an old word file by clicking FILE/OPEN/UPLOAD. This will offer you a window to drag or to choose a file. Let me know if this helps. I discovered this thru trial and error.
