Note: You must be logged in to chatgpt.com to use ChatGPT search.

This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.

ChatGPT You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Chats also now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.

In order to redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

I've been waiting for this, I even built a few versions of my own with the API plus Bing etc . Anyway The initiative is great however a few things are not quite working yet: 1 - New chat session per search. It's inconvenient that every search becomes a chat session. Important chats get lost in the clutter of everyday search and I also don't want the risk of my audience accidentally seeing my chat history just because I searched for something while sharing my screen. I mean it's great that a chat session is created as I can always pickup a search where I left off, but it should not be among my regular chats, maybe searches should have their own place to live. You need to workout the UI for these two to coexist in a way that's not compromising - we need a better version of a search history - one that's hidden yet can be recovered and reused at a later time with contextual information from previous interactions. 2 - it seems that the search results are largely based of text-based sources rather than image and/or video. You need to strike a balance between results for a search query, I can go to https://www.youtube.com/ to search for videos and maybe https://images.google.com/ to search for images but often I just go to https://www.google.com/ and I end up either on YouTube, Google Images, someone's blog, Google Scholar, etc depending on their match with my search query. So, improve that if you can and it will be fire because now I'm having to go to other sources to check for alternative results - not just text or largely text. Overall great initiative, but its not quite there yet. PS: The sources view is good as is, well done.

検索で使っているとすぐにPlusプランの上限を超えてしまうので、モデルを4o-miniに切り替えられるようにしてほしいです。

Sounds like a good idea, but the extension just sets the default search engine setting by force, and there's no way you can keep Google as the default and just search using ChatGPT when you need. If you decide to be that inflexible, you set yourself to an impossibly high standard, where you need to beat Google search in every possible way if you don't want to be a pain to your users. Unsurprisingly, you fail to do that. I have to uninstall this extension because I can't completely stop using Google like this extension forces me to.

Creating a new chat window every single time I search anything is extremely inefficient. Not to mention that it stores the search in your chat history, which clutters useless searches with your actual AI usage. Not using this until its changed.

Excelente, solo creo que no deberia abrir un nuevo chat por cada busqueda. estaria bien que fuese temporal.

ChatGPT's lack of folders and chat management undermines usability of the extension. The search feature adds to this by creating a new chat for every query, cluttering the interface. Security restrictions for certain terms limit flexibility, and straightforward tasks like accessing known sites (e.g., LinkedIn) are slowed by unnecessary explanations instead of direct routing. While promising, the current implementation of search as an extension feels inefficient and cumbersome.
