This eye-care extension enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colours to make web pages high contrast and easier to read.
Adjust brightness, contrast, the sepia filter, font preferences. Enable dark mode on every web page or give websites a sepia tone. Enable or disable Dark Reader for specific websites, automatically sync with system dark mode, or detect already dark websites and leave them unchanged.
This is the original Dark Reader extension. Since 2014, we continuously evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support for people sensitive to bright light.

# RATING Not perfect but close to. It's now a must have for me. # ISSUES Sometimes the theme change will be odd, when original webpages have non-white backgrounds, specially if the background have patterns, but those are not that much common. The options for tuning coloring are helpful here, in adition to the per-webpage tuning. Also I have had an issue where in rare occasions (mostly with Overleaf web) it does not automatically change the theme and I have to deactivate/activate the extension. It does does change web theme, but not images themselves (at least if they are bitmap), so theese can burn your eyes by surprise. # FEATURE REQUEST (in case dev is watching) - Ability to override background pattern images as they tend (sometimes at least) to give trouble. - Ability to automagically check the colors of a webpage and determine whether or not it is dark enough, and in case it is not change it. - Ability to check the brightness of embedded images (as those are not changed, at least if bitmap), and apply a filter to reduce brightness.
Simple and useful extension. One of the best. Thanks to developers.
