Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Ich verstehe nicht warum für eine völlig normale Browserfunktion eine Erweiterung nötig ist.

Terrible fix, backspace takes you back, regardless of focus in a text-field. So I am in an online class typing to an instructor on AdobeConnect. I backspace, to delete a letter (while having focus) and I lose my question and DC. Not only is it a terrible fix, it is terrible to require users to download an add-on to try to fix. Please give me a flag in settings to enable or disable 'legacy backspace' that worked as intended. Part of being a user online while filling out forms is to always make sure your cursor is typing, otherwise you are gonna pizza instead of french-fry, and it is a users responsibility to responsibly use computers...whats next? *EDIT* Microsoft Edge backspace still works! And scrolling on tablets/touch screens is super smooth. I guess its time to find out.

Seems to work at the moment, no problems with the extension, but then I never had a problem using the back button anyway in a form etc and losing anything accidently thats just for people who are careless. Naughty Google should have then by default have it disabled but leave an option open, so people that know what they are doing, could enable it themselves as an option. Thats how dictatorships start, by pandering to stupid people, when there was another way which Google in their wisdom overlooked. Should sack the guy that came up with that idea doesn't seem to be a rational thinker. If he was he would have done what these guys have done. Thanks to the developer (The people and common sense prevail) :-)

I'm not a fan of IE, but this they got right: Backspace goes back unless you're in a form, then it's just a backspace. Why is this so hard? At least make it configurable in Options.

Garbage. Just restore original functionality and make a setting for the simpletons that you so clearly would rather cater to. I'm done, google.... This is the last straw. The first was ditching google reader, the second was some other asinine thing I don't remember, and now there is this. Firefox here I come! Who ever keeps coming up with crap decisions like this is not healthy for google or the internet. Fire them or take away there decision making and go back to being awesome. Btw google being awesome is why people use it but when you stop being awesome you open the door to others to be more awesome. People will follow the awesomeness.

I'll say it again: It is a bad decision to remove the backspace key as "back" from chrome. As of now there is no single button "back" navigation key. Everyone with a handicap now needs to install an extension. while this may sound like a minor issue it isn't. this restricts handicapped users to only work on their modified PC and not on stock chrome installs :(

Google, this change didn't need to be made. People who lost data should have just learned not to do it again. Some of us have been using backspace for over a decade. This Extension doesn't work. Going back to Firefox or, sadly, Edge.
