Almost as good as Google search with the benefit of helping the environment. What I am missing are settings to change the theme and the appearance of the search results. Also the calculator tool similar to Google’s would be quite nice to have on Ecosia as well!
Just use it
Put #g after a search if you want to search with google. Just as good as google but isn't here for profit.
This is a wonderful search engine and I switched from Google to Ecosia in a heart beat because I can still have a web browser just as good as google and also help bring back a little bit of green to the world. That's why I love Ecosia!!!!!!
SHORT SUMMARY: Isn't based in US, so it has strong privacy laws. Doesn't censor auto complete searches. Search "Hilary Clinton emails" in Google and it won't auto-complete. Search the same thing in Ecosia, and it will! Unlike many other search engines that protect your privacy, many of them are based in the US, which as many of us know, have very weak privacy laws. I was so happy to find out that this was based somewhere other than the US! And no, it doesn't manipulate your search suggestions like Google. When I searched "Hilary Clinton email" to see if it would autocomplete it, it did, unlike Google! Try it yourself!
Great search engine, helps the environment, all-round I'm proud to have used this engine for the past two years, and I will continue using. Only search engine I like to use.

Kleiner Tipp für Ecosia-Nutzer: um mit Google zu suchen (manchmal gibt es da einfach die besseren Ergebnisse) einfach #g hinter den Suchbegriff schreiben! Genauso geht #m für Gmaps, #yt für Youtube oder #i für Bilder! :)
Love the ideology behind it
I started using Ecosia because they plant trees with the profits. I expected to sacrifice search quality for that, and to have to use Google sometimes when searches failed. But the truth was the opposite. I actually find what I am looking for on the first go more often with Ecosia than I used to with Google (or still do if I am using someone else's computer).
