TL;DR Summary: The v4 Design is in every noticeable change a downgrade. Either the dev caught lightning in a bottle when they initially created the extension and doesn't actually understand UX design at all, or sold the extension to an incompetent. I do not trust that this app will remain functional as development continues. EDIT: (The filter search feature was partially restored as of v4.02, though it still cannot search the titles of sessions, rendering titleing sessions largely pointless. With this disclaimer I chose to retain this paragraph as the dev continues to evade responsibility on this issue, calling it a "regression" and talking as though it's an inferior legacy feature included to placate old users. To be clear, the new keyword search is not useful at all for the reasons outlined following and the fact the dev didn't understand this before implementing it as a replacement for the filter search is an indicator of incompetence) The search feature used to filter the record of old sessions to just those sessions containing the searched characters, you could then browse normally until you found the one you were looking for. It now opens a search bar displaying only the title of the relevant tab, which closes if you open the session. Not only that, it is now a keyword search instead of a character search and you can't search a phrase in quotes so if you include something like the word "the" the result is just a random list of old sessions, not even in order of date because it's sorting them by some unknown algorithmic relevance factor, this feature is really an onion of baffling design decisions. This breaks the main function I used the extension for. Why would you remove hotkeys? What about removing hotkeys constitutes a feature or build update? Not only can you not delete or save sessions by hotkey anymore, you cannot NAVIGATE USING ARROWKEYS. Where previously you could simply open a list of all your sessions, they are now on an infinite scroll which loads as you scroll down. This feature has never been well received in any program, application or extension. Nobody wants it, nobody will ever want it, I literally do not believe devs actually expect people to like it. You especially have no excuse when your extension is a glorified notepad file with deduplicated 2 kb (I checked) thumbnails. There is zero memory load (the one dubious case for infinite scroll) associated with pulling up my entire history simultaneously, the person who included this feature is profoundly inept. Don't even fire them, they might be hired by somebody else and spread their taint, you need to somehow prevent them from ever programming again. By implementing a maximum quantity and retention time for "history" sessions, dev deleted a decade of my history up to june last year. It's meaningless to give people the option to turn those off, you know perfectly well nobody is going to see an update and immediately rush to check if there's some new setting somewhere that will delete their data for no reason. I say for no reason because as with the infinite scroll gripe, this is a solution to a problem nobody has, which creates an actual problem in its place.
Worst update.
Make it possible to roll back to the previous version!
越更新越难用,之前的数据也丢失了!
Changing my rating from 5 to 3. I have used the extension for over 9 years. Version 4 is a complete mess - Titanic style update. Now you can export only to JSON + previously available options are missing. Still usable, but need to find a replace, or write my own extension.
Revert to previous version, this just is stupid
what a way to destroy such a good software. why would you release an update that overrides a common shortcut like Cmd + B to open Session Buddy instead? this is really disrupting my workflow on apps like Notion, Google Docs etc, so I'm uninstalling immediately.
I still find this update good one, but as other comments mention - there are some things that are missing or reworked in a bad way. If it will be changed - the update will be rather perfect than good. UPD. please also add option to open all tabs at once unlike it is done now - way too slow, or add option to lower delay between tabs opened
