Ever needed to quickly switch between user-agent strings on the fly? Developing a site that needs to work on both mobile browsers and desktop browsers? Sick of some archaic site blocking you because you're not using Netscape 4?

The User-Agent Switcher for Chrome is the answer. With this extension, you can quickly and easily switch between user-agent strings. Also, you can set up specific URLs that you want to spoof every time.

Please note that this does not provide improved privacy while browsing the Internet and that some sites might have other means to figure out that the browser is not what it pretends to be. Running this extension can have performance impact on your browsing experience due to its need to intercept and modify the data communicated to the server.

NOTE: if some sites have problems after using a mobile user-agent, and won't switch back no matter what you spoof, you will need to switch the user-agent back to Chrome *and* clear your cookies for the sites to treat the browser normally again.

By installing this item, you agree to the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/.

Absolutely terrible; it often ignores your UA selection. This session, I'm unable to select Chrome|Default - keeps deciding to be an iPad.

The extension is good and does what it states, but it also frequently crashes my Chrome, especially when I have multiple tabs, regardless of the user-agent I set.

Awesome and simple. Used it in development to remove some things from the ipad site. Otherwise I would have had to deploy and then test on the ipad and then deploy again.

I tether my Nexus 4 on T-Mobile to my macbook and without changing the user agent it will detect your tethering and redirect you to a page saying that you need to pay for the service. To get around this I have been having to go into developer options to change my user agent but it only applies to the open tab. If you close the developer options window it will revert back to the default chrome user agent. I have tested this extension on both my macbook air and dell windows laptop and it works perfectly. As for the morons complaining about being blacklisted, they should not be playing with these settings since they don't know what they are used for. Besides what I am using it for, this setting is for web developers. If they are coding their site for multiple browsers and platforms they need to be able to test to see if it displays the way they want for the platform they are coding for. Without being able to change the UA agent they would need to install every browser on their computer they want to test on and they would also need a mobile a mobile device for every platform they want there site to work on such as a iphone, ipad, android phone and so on. These morons are being black listed because the web server or network is thinking they are using their computer as a gateway by sharing out their connection. The reason it thinks this is because the IP and mac the request is coming from is the same and the UA its detecting is coming from a different OS. As for the idiot that complains about it displaying the pages like an iPhone needs to stop messing with their computer since they don't know what they are installing. Its displaying the page like a iPhone because thats what you selected as your agent. The html code on the website is written so that its compatible with multiple platforms including mobile devices and it thinks your a iphone because thats what your UA says. Web developers use the UA to determine the browser the request is coming from and in your case it says your a iphone so it sends you to a site that is coded to fit on a 3.5"/4" screen. This extension rocks and its exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for providing it for free.

Great, but the crippling flaw is that it works globally, meaning you can't have separate user agents in separate windows.
