Try h264ify if YouTube videos stutter, take up too much CPU, eat battery life, or make your laptop hot.
By default, YouTube streams VP8/VP9 encoded video. However, this can cause problems with less powerful machines because VP8/VP9 is not typically hardware accelerated.
In contrast, H.264 is commonly hardware accelerated by GPUs, which usually means smoother video playback and reduced CPU usage. h264ify makes YouTube stream H.264 videos instead of VP8/VP9 videos.
Note: 4K and 1440p videos will not be available because YouTube no longer encodes those videos in H.264

cpu usage went from 80% to around 20% with this extension, when playing at 1080p60. Loving it. too bad that 4k video is only available in vp9 format.
It sometimes disables resolutions higher than 1080p. Why?
Have much better ingame fps while looking youtube and playing on the other Monitor. Youtube is now using around 5-10% cpu power. And not above 30% like before. Like it thanks :D
Currently if you have this extension active, it disables all resolutions higher than 1080p60. Disabling the extension made available resolutions up to and including 5k or 2880p60.

ИДЕАЛЬНОЕ РАСШИРЕНИЕ!!!! С последним обновлением (даже если его отключить) Youtube окончательно перестал поддерживать Flash, даже с Magic Actions, и проблема с подлагиваниями каждые 5-10 секунд снова появилась. Данное расширение отключает 60 FPS (доп. опция в настройках) и всё работает ОТЛИЧНО!! Спасибо огромное!!!!
I have a new generation CPU now with VP8 HW decoding so I don't need this anymore, but back then it made such a huge difference! Thanks for this nice quick fix author, but I'll be honest I'm glad I don't need this anymore

Core2Duo E8200 + GeForce 450 (компу 10 лет): даже 720p 60fps временами лагало - теперь 720p 60fps без тормозов, 1080p 30fps тоже. Спасибо. Core2Duo E8200 + GeForce 450 (10 y.o. computer): even 720p 60fps was lagging before - now 720p60 runs with no issues, 1080p30 also. Many thanks.
