Fantastic. I wanted a way to put random works of art on my Windows background, and couldn't find anything...then I found this which is just as good as I use Chrome all day... The works are really varied and surprising - so well-chosen.

It used to feature great artwork, there was not a single disappointing picture. Nowadays the app is filled with modern art, which does not appeal to my tastes and feels like a bother.

well, i have been using this extension since 5 months, and it was nice but now i'm finding they repeat and repeat some paintings,....although there are tons of masterpieces out there, it has started to get me bored... and i miss my ability to choose the artist or painting myself. So, i need to be able to select which painting i like to be on my new tab and it would be so much better if i can select the artist i like.

Provides cultural enrichment by showing a beautiful artwork each time a user opens a new Chrome tab, replacing the default new tab page

Extension overrides Chrome's new tab page (chrome_url_overrides). Background service worker fetches artwork data JSON from gstatic.com/culturalinstitute/tabext/imax_2_2.json and caches it. When user opens a new tab, the newtab page renders a curated artwork with title, artist name, and attribution. User can click 'Change' button to rotate artwork, click artwork description to visit Google Arts & Culture for details, or use settings to toggle top sites/apps buttons and artwork rotation frequency.
