Social Media Saver

A Chrome extension that captures social media posts and saves them locally or publishes them to your own blog or site. Browse Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, or Instagram and a Save button appears on each post. One click captures the text, images, author info, and metadata — stored privately in your browser and, if you choose, automatically queued for publishing to WordPress, Drupal, a Micropub endpoint, or any custom webhook.

Why this extension exists

Social media algorithms decide what you see and what disappears. Good content gets buried, important voices fade, and once a post scrolls off the feed it is effectively gone. Social Media Saver puts you back in control: every post you want to keep is one click away from being saved permanently on your own device, and optionally republished to a platform you own. Your content, your terms.

How it works

When you visit a supported social media site, the extension detects posts on the page and adds a Save button next to each one. Clicking it extracts the post text, images, author details, and engagement metrics directly from the page. The content is stored in your browser's local IndexedDB and, if you have configured a publishing destination, added to a publish queue that handles retries automatically and tracks each post's status once it goes live. Everything you have saved is browsable, searchable, and exportable from the extension's built-in viewer at any time.
