Good attempt but sadly it looks broken. Some z-index may not work properly and will go over front elements. Also it doesn't work and detect shadow doms.
Great extension. The only thing I couldn't figure out is how to pan. I remember in Firefox there was a way to do it by pressing down shift. If there was a way to adjust the view angle, this would completely substitute the good ol Firefox 3d view. Not exactly replacement, but I realized that I can achieve some of it by using spacebar/shift+spacebar to at least navigate up and down the page.

Very interesting for your very first version of dom3D. My suggestion is that, don't lock the mouse. Click and drag would be more friendly. 👍
